Institute of International Politics and Economics (IIPE), Belgrade

The Institute of International Politics and Economics (IIPE), Belgrade is one of the oldest public research institutes in the field of International Relations in Southeast Europe.

Founded in 1947, IIPE began as a small group of scholars focused on laying the foundations of Yugoslav International Relations. Over time, it evolved into the largest research institution of its kind in former Yugoslavia and present-day Serbia.

Today, IIPE conducts a wide range of research aimed at developing innovative analyses of global politics. Its work covers global, regional, and country-specific issues through the lenses of international relations, international economics, and international law, with particular emphasis on challenges affecting the international position of the Republic of Serbia and its national interests.

IIPE’s research has long served as a key resource for government decision-makers in shaping foreign policy priorities. Through cooperation with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Institute has contributed to defining Serbia’s strategic foreign and economic policy directions, training generations of diplomats, and providing expert support.

IIPE also maintains a specialized depository library in International Relations, including extensive official documentation from the UN, EU, NATO, and other international organizations. To date, the Institute has published over 600 books, edited volumes, proceedings, and working papers, and publishes academic journals recognized both nationally and internationally.
