Yeşil Türkiye, 1950 tarihinde “ağaç ve orman sevgisini yaymak, üyelerin meslek, kültür ve sosyal bakımlardan gelişmesine imkân sağlamak üzere İstanbul’da kurulmuştur. 1960 yılından beri Bakanlar Kurulu kararı ile 'Kamu Yararına Çalışan' dernekler statüsünde faaliyet göstermektedir.
1960 tarihinde “Kamu Yararına Çalışan Dernek” statüsüne kavuşarak adında “Türkiye” ifadesini kullanmaya hak kazanmıştır.
Yeşil Türkiye’nin merkezi halen Ankara’da olup, İstanbul’da bir şubesi ve Antalya’da Eğitim ve orman kampı bulunmaktadır.
