The Poston Foundation

The Poston Foundation is a South Carolina 501(c)(3) public charity based in Columbia, dedicated to strengthening communities through practical direct aid, community partnerships, charitable giving, volunteer engagement, and place-based initiatives that respond to real local needs.

Our work focuses on expanding access to essential resources, supporting individuals and families facing hardship or instability, building nonprofit and corporate partnerships, and creating community programs with measurable, responsible impact.

The Carolina Cares Initiative is our primary direct-aid and community outreach program. Through Carolina Cares Essentials Kits, volunteer-supported outreach, sponsorships, and in-kind contributions, the Foundation helps provide necessities such as hygiene items, socks, first-aid basics, shelf-stable food, water, seasonal supplies, and resource information. We work to make support accessible, dignified, and responsive to South Carolina communities.

The Foundation also leads the Poston Preserve Initiative, a place-based effort focused on historic preservation, public history, community development, beautification, conservation planning, and long-term stewardship in Poston, South Carolina. This work connects community history with preservation, research, education, and future-focused local development.

We collaborate with donors, businesses, foundations, volunteers, civic partners, and community organizations through charitable donations, corporate sponsorships, grants, in-kind giving, volunteer service, and strategic partnerships.
