The English Academy İzmir

The English Academy is an educational establishment founded in 1991 by two teachers with more than 35 years of educational experience between them in several countries, covering teaching, teacher training, and management in a variety of institutions: state and private schools, language schools, and universities and teacher training colleges.

Morgan Finnegan, co-founder and Academic Director, has been in EFL since 1981. He has taught in state schools (Sudan 1981 -83; Turkey, 1989-90); language schools (Turkey 1983-84; University Tutorial College, London 1986-88, as Director of Studies); a teacher training institute (China, 1984 – 86); and was a teacher trainer and Academic Committee Head at Bilkent University in Ankara (1987-88). The teaching of English as a foreign language is done through our language school in Çankaya, Izmir, where our courses include General English, Conversation, Business English, TOEFL, TOEIC, IELTS, FCE, and a variety of ESP courses.

All our teachers are qualified native-speaker teachers, approved by the Ministry of Education. Since 2004, our school has been an officially recognized TOEFL and TOEIC test centre.Our Overseas Educational Consultancy focuses on placing adult students and young learners in Language Courses, Universities, Cultural Exchange programmes, and Summer Schools – in the UK, the US, Canada, and Australia.

The English Academy is affiliated to the Ministry of Education and is a member of The Chamber of Commerce.
