TF COP - Trade Finance Conference of Parties

TF COP stands for Trade Finance Conference of Parties, a global initiative to address and close the trade finance gap. This gap is the shortfall between the demand for and supply of trade-related credit, particularly for SMEs in emerging markets, which hinders economic growth. The initiative, which includes both public and private sector organizations, aims to halve the gap by 2030 and eliminate it by 2040.

Mission: To systematically reduce and ultimately eliminate the global trade finance gap.

Goal: To halve the trade finance gap by 2030 and close it entirely by 2040.

Participants: A coalition of public and private sector entities, including development banks, central banks, trade bodies, insurance companies, banks, and fintechs.

Origin: The initiative was officially launched in Seville in July 2025, following the Washington Declaration at a summit in October 2024.

Impact: By closing the gap, the initiative seeks to help viable businesses, especially SMEs, gain access to the capital they need to participate in international trade, thereby creating jobs and improving livelihoods.
