SUPERPOOL

Superpool is a research-driven architecture and urban design practice founded in Istanbul in 2006 and expanded to Copenhagen in 2017. The studio combines built work, spatial research, and strategic planning to shape how cities are understood, experienced, and imagined.

Rooted in local practice while contributing to global urban discourse, Superpool engages with projects that span exhibitions, public space design, the creation of learning and play environments, and mobility systems. Their work includes transformative projects such as the Zümrütevler Square redevelopment in Istanbul, the European Leadership University campus in Famagusta as well as research publications like Mapping Istanbul and participation in exhibitions at MoMA, the Guggenheim, and the Danish Architecture Center.

Since 2017, Superpool has been a key partner in the Bernard van Leer Foundation’s Urban95 initiative, helping cities design with young children and caregivers in mind. This includes developing Istanbul’s Play Master Plan and leading the rollout of Safe School Zones in 25 cities across Türkiye. Internationally, Superpool serves as a technical partner in Addis Ababa’s Children: The Future of Addis initiative, contributing to a citywide strategy to build 12,000 new playgrounds.

Superpool’s work has been recognized for its ability to blend analytical rigor with creative urban imagination. Whether through spatial strategies, policy frameworks, or built interventions, the studio consistently seeks to generate meaningful and measurable impact - making cities not only more functional, but more joyful, just, and humane.
