RhetorixLab

RhetorixLab is an AI-resilient assessment platform for higher education that helps instructors evaluate authentic student learning in the age of generative AI.

Our video-based oral assessment tools enable students to respond to structured, course-specific questions in their own words. By incorporating randomized prompts and asynchronous video responses, RhetorixLab gives educators a clearer view of what students understand, how they reason through course material, and how effectively they communicate their knowledge.

Built to complement existing courses and assessments, RhetorixLab helps instructors introduce more authentic assessment without requiring a substantial course redesign. Educators can translate existing curriculum, exams, and learning objectives into scalable oral assessment experiences that are more difficult to outsource to AI.

RhetorixLab is grounded in more than a decade of research on automated interviewing technology led by co-founder Steven Pentland, Ph.D. Our mission is to give colleges and universities a practical, academically grounded way to strengthen academic integrity while also developing the communication, critical-thinking, and subject-matter mastery students need beyond the classroom.

A free version is available for instructors who want to explore RhetorixLab in their courses.
