People of Anioma

People of Anioma is a news and media platform dedicated to documenting, interpreting, and amplifying the stories of the Anioma people—an Igbo-speaking population indigenous to the western bank of the River Niger in Delta State, Nigeria.

We tell stories that matter. Through original reporting, long-form essays, visual documentaries, data-driven features, and cultural analysis, we revisit age-long historical events, examine contemporary realities, and preserve collective memory that is often overlooked or misrepresented.

Our work sits at the intersection of history, culture, identity, and the future. We explore Anioma heritage beyond nostalgia—asking difficult questions, correcting distortions, and placing local narratives within broader national and global conversations.

At the heart of our mission is a commitment to voice and agency: ensuring Anioma perspectives are told by Anioma people, with depth, accuracy, and dignity. We also see storytelling as a tool for continuity and renewal—one that can inspire critical thinking, cultural pride, and informed participation among our youth.
