Josef Sachs grundade Nordiska Kompaniet 1902 och hade redan då en tydlig ambition. Varuhuset NK skulle vara en kommersiell och kulturell teater – en scen för samtiden. Måhända är det storslagna ord, men de genomsyrar fortfarande allt NK gör.
Portarna till varuhuset på Hamngatan i Stockholm slogs upp 1915. Sedan dess har allt från ikoniska personligheter till exklusiva lanseringar passerat revy. Oavsett vad som sker på NK är varuhuset känt för att alltid ligga steget före.
Hufvudstaden AB står som ägare av AB Nordiska Kompaniet, som in sin tur äger NK fastigheterna och varumärket. Våra avdelningar drivs av 110 NK-företagare i Stockholm och 50 NK-företagare i Göteborg. Varuhuset i Göteborg etablerades 1971.
