New Zealand Film Commission
Entertainment in New Zealand
Overview
The New Zealand Film Commission (NZFC) champions our vibrant screen industry. As a Crown entity, we invest in original, culturally significant stories that reflect who we are and connect with audiences at home and around the world.
We support talented filmmakers to develop their careers, foster international partnerships, and grow global audiences for New Zealand films. Our work includes marketing New Zealand’s screen production industry internationally, attracting overseas productions, and providing expert advice as the first point of contact for incoming projects.
NZFC administers key incentives such as the New Zealand Screen Production Grant, the Post, Digital and Visual Effects Grant, and the 5% Uplift. We also negotiate co-production treaties and certify official co-productions and New Zealand films for tax purposes.
Our goal is to ensure New Zealand’s screen sector is sustainable, competitive, and celebrated worldwide.
