New Technologies and Space Exploration in Commercial Law - Laboratory

By Order No. 5/2025 of 27 January 2025, the Dean of the Faculty of Law and Administration of the Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń established a research team named "New Technologies and Space Exploration in Commercial Law – Laboratory" (in Polish: "Laboratorium Prawnohandlowych Aspektów Nowych Technologii i Eksploracji Kosmosu"), also known by the acronyms NTSECLL and LPANTEK.

The Laboratory is built on synergistic cooperation among its members and brings together: legal scholars, legal professionals, economists and managers, socioeconomic stakeholders associated with the Department of Commercial and Maritime Law (Faculty of Law and Administration, Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń), and student research societies. The aforementioned cooperation is conducted pro publico bono.

The research areas of the Laboratory are:

– new technologies, especially: artificial intelligence (AI), distributed ledger technologies (DLT including blockchain), smart contracts, decentralised applications (DApps), decentralised organizations (DO, DAO), autonomous systems, including maritime, aerial, and space systems, so-called green fuels, and

– phenomena, in particular: space exploration and cybersecurity.

The objectives of the Laboratory are:

– conducting research and presenting its results, particularly through academic publications and during conferences and seminars,

– supporting activities related to the evaluation of the quality of scientific activity in legal sciences by strengthening the impact of science on the socio-economic environment, and

– supporting the Polish administration in achieving its goals, including through expert participation in legislative processes.
