National Association of Nigerian Students – Turkish Zone

The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) is the foremost umbrella body representing millions of Nigerian students across tertiary institutions both within Nigeria and in the global academic community. Established to protect student interests, NANS serves as a driving force for advocacy, policy engagement, leadership development, and the advancement of education standards for Nigerian learners worldwide.

Beyond its core mandate of promoting student welfare, NANS actively engages in national and international issues that directly or indirectly affect Nigerian students and the broader Nigerian diaspora. The organization collaborates with governmental agencies, educational regulators, and international partners to secure improved academic conditions, institutional accountability, and equitable opportunities for all students.

In Northern Cyprus, NANS plays a strategic and increasingly essential role in safeguarding the rights and well-being of Nigerian students studying across institutions in the TRNC. Its responsibilities include monitoring academic quality, addressing safety and security concerns, supporting students with accommodation and welfare challenges, and offering guidance on legal, immigration, and regulatory matters that affect student life.

To achieve these goals, NANS maintains strong relationships with local authorities, university administrations, community organizations, and diplomatic missions. Through these partnerships, the association works to ensure that Nigerian students receive accurate information, fair treatment, and the necessary support systems to thrive academically, socially, and personally.
