Overview
أُنشئت وزارة السياحة والآثار، لأول مرة، في مارس 1964، لتجمع بين مصلحتي السياحة والآثار، وعدداً من الهيئات العامة، وفي سبتمبر 1966 انفصلت الوزارتين لتشهد كل منهما على حدة مراحل مختلفة من التطور طوال ما يزيد عن 50 عاماً، حتى تم دمجهما مرة أخري في ديسمبر 2019، لتعود وزارة السياحة والآثار كما أُنشئت أول مرة، وذلك في ضوء توجه الدولة لتحقيق التكامل بين قطاعي السياحة والآثار. وتسعى الوزارة إلى النهوض بقطاعي السياحة والآثار، والاستغلال الأمثل لموارد الدولة السياحية، الطبيعية، البشرية، والأثرية، والعمل على ضمان استدامتها، وتوفير بنية تحتية وخدمية متميزة ومتطورة لزيادة القدرة التنافسية للمقصد السياحي المصري، مع تطبيق أفضل وسائل الترويج السياحي محلياً ودولياً لجذب المزيد من الزائرين المصريين والسائحين العرب والأجانب من مختلف الأسواق والفئات والشرائح، ورفع الوعي السياحي والأثري للمواطنين.
