Overview
METU Food Technologies Lab is a research group within the Department of Food Engineering at Middle East Technical University, Ankara, Türkiye. Led by Prof. Dr. Mecit Halil Öztop, the lab focuses on food engineering research that is ambitious, applied, and future-oriented.
Our work spans alternative proteins, sustainable food processing, food quality and safety, non-destructive analysis, and the valorisation of food side streams. With dedicated pilot-scale and analytical infrastructure, we develop research that connects scientific excellence with practical use.
Through projects funded by Horizon Europe, PRIMA, COST, and other international programmes, we contribute to emerging food technologies while training BSc, MSc and PhD researchers in a collaborative and high-energy research environment.
