METRO este principalul jucator de pe piata cash & carry internationala, a deschis primul magazin in Romania in octombrie 1996, fiind si prima companie care a introdus pe piata locala sistemul de vanzare cash & carry, cea mai moderna forma de comert angro, cu plata la ridicarea marfii.

In anii urmatori, datorita succesului noului sistem pe piata romaneasca, compania si-a extins reteaua cu rapiditate, ajungand acum sa ne deservim clientii din toata tara prin 30 de magazine, cu o suprafata totala de vanzare de aproximativ 190.000 de metri patrati. In anul 2010, METRO Cash & Carry Romania avea aproximativ 5716 angajati, inregistrand o cifra de afaceri de 1,137 miliarde Euro.
