McCarty Holsaple McCarty (MHM) is one of East Tennessee’s largest and most experienced full-service architectural, interior design, and planning firms. For over 60 years, we’ve helped shape the region through thoughtful, enduring design that balances innovation with a deep respect for place.
Founded by the late Bruce McCarty, an influential voice in Tennessee’s modern architectural movement, MHM continues his legacy through a collaborative team of 50 professionals led by Principals Nathan Honeycutt, Margaret Butler, John Thurman, Li Wang, and Aaron Miller. We proudly serve clients across East Tennessee, North Georgia, Southwest Virginia, Northern Alabama, East Kentucky, North Carolina, and South Carolina.
Our work includes some of the region’s most recognizable spaces: the Tennessee Theatre renovation, McGhee Tyson Airport terminal, Knoxville Convention Center, the City of Knoxville Public Safety Complex, and signature facilities across the University of Tennessee campus, including the Zeanah Engineering Complex, UT Medical Nursing Building, Mossman Science Building, Student Union, and Neyland Stadium renovations.
