La Residencia, A Belmond Hotel

La Residencia, A Belmond Hotel, Mallorca is an art-filled haven spread across 12 acres of ancient olive groves, perched beside the UNESCO World Heritage Tramuntana Mountains in the charming village of Deià. Its 70 rooms and suites are each decorated in keeping with the bohemian Mallorcan spirit, with more than 800 art works by over 85 artists – all of whom have lived and worked in the region. In Miró Restaurant, the ideal spot for a leisurely Mediterranean lunch, a further 33 original works of art are housed by renowned artist Joan Miró. In keeping with this creative energy, guests can visit the Sa Tafona art gallery, or join an art class with the latest artist in residencia (created in collaboration with Galleria Continua). To unwind, the hotel’s grounds also boast tennis and pétanque courts, as well as an award-winning Spa, with indoor pool. Gastronomy is a cornerstone, with three restaurants: El Olivo, formerly the olive press room, offering tasting, à la carte and vegetarian menus with wine pairings from a collection that has earned the Award of Excellence from Wine Spectator since 2000; the aforementioned Miró Restaurant and the recently launched poolside Tramuntana Grill, offering sun-splashed lunches and balmy dinners with dramatic views. The hotel produces its own olive oil, as well as an infusion made from the leaves of the olive trees, both available in the hotel’s restaurants and Boutique.
