Anayasamızın öngördüğü esaslara, ulusal ve uluslararası denizcilik kurallarına uygun denizciler yetiştirmeyi kendine felsefe edinmiş olan Kocaeli Üniversitesi’nin denizcilik fakültesi ve denizcilik meslek yüksek okullarının, denizcilikle ilgili bölümlerinden mezunların, nesiller boyunca dayanışmalarının sürmesine katkı sağlamak, mezunların veya mezun olmak üzere olanların, mesleki kariyer süreçlerine ışık tutabilmek, aynı okuldan mezun bireylerin okul yıllarında ve meslek hayatlarından edinmiş oldukları “denizcilik ruhunun” gelecek nesillere aktarımını sağlamak amacı ile dernek kuruluşuna karar verilmiştir
