Overview
The Institute for Food Safety and Health (IFSH) is a one-of-a-kind applied food science research consortium comprised of Illinois Tech, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), and the food industry. In collaboration with the FDA, we provide stakeholders with the opportunity to develop and exchange knowledge, experience, and expertise in the areas of food safety, food defense, and nutrition. IFSH is strategically located in the Chicago region, one of the world’s top cities for the food and beverage industry. In 1988, the US FDA established the first center of excellence at Illinois Tech through the grant funded National Center for Food Safety and Technology.
