HBI Urban Circular Biorefinery

We are redefining the role of wastewater treatment plants.

HBI enables utilities to transform wastewater treatment plants into Urban Circular Biorefineries: strategic infrastructures that regenerate water, renewable energy and critical raw materials, creating value for communities, strengthening regional resilience and contributing to Europe’s strategic autonomy.

To us, the challenge is not sludge.

It is the value that is still being disposed of.

Through our proprietary technology platform, industrial expertise and a collaborative ecosystem of partners, we help utilities move beyond sludge disposal and transform wastewater treatment plants into new urban sources of resources.

We operate at the intersection of research, industry and public infrastructure, turning scientific innovation into scalable industrial solutions and new circular value chains.

We believe the future of wastewater management is not simply about treating waste. It is about regenerating resources, returning value to communities and building a more resilient industrial system.

From research to technology. From technology to value chains. From value chains to public value.
