Forces Veterans Afloat
Non-profit Organizations in United Kingdom
Overview
In July 2021, a group of boat enthusiasts bonded over a Facebook post about raising an abandoned boat. It was suggested if a boat was rescued, it should be refurbished and given to the homeless veteran.
The idea struck a chord with boaters, civilian and veteran, in a day a Facebook page was created as a rallying point, the a website built, a boat was donated and what was known then as "The Forces Vets Afloat Project" was born. 4 years later there are 9 boats and in December 2024 the registered charity 1211509 Forces Veterans Afloat, was created. It's entirely run by volunteers and all the boats have been donated to the cause by generous owners.
