Fernandes Group

Based in Paramaribo, Suriname, Fernandes Group is one of the largest privately owned companies in the country and plays a leading role across multiple sectors of the Surinamese economy.

Our story began in 1910, when the Fernandes family opened a small novelty store. More than a century later, that entrepreneurial spirit has grown into a diversified group of companies that is deeply connected to daily life in Suriname.

Today, Fernandes Group operates through several businesses, including Fernandes Bakery, Fernandes Manufacturing, Fernandes Commerce, Fernandes Ice Cream, Fernandes Automotive, Fernandes Industrial Services, and Fernandes Technical Center. Together, these companies serve consumers, retailers, and industries across the country.

Our activities span a wide range of sectors. In beverages, we produce non-alcoholic ready-to-drink beverages through our The Coca-Cola Company franchise, which dates back to 1938. In food, we produce Fernandes bread, pastries, snacks, and ice cream enjoyed by families across Suriname.

Through our automotive businesses we represent internationally recognized brands such as Isuzu, Volkswagen, Honda, GAC and Subaru. Our distribution activities connect global brands with retailers and consumers nationwide, while our industrial, mining, construction and agricultural operations support key sectors of the Surinamese economy through partnerships with world-class manufacturers.

Across all of our businesses, Fernandes Group is driven by a simple idea: creating value for the communities we serve while building sustainable growth for the future. Every day, our products and services support families, retailers, businesses and industries throughout the country.

But above all, it is our people who make this possible. The dedication, craftsmanship and entrepreneurial mindset of our teams continue to shape the next chapter of our organization.
