Our founders, Michael Cohen and Kim Spinks, started City People to close the gap between arts and cultural policy, and the actual experiences of people on the ground.

With 50 years of combined experience as practicing artists, creative producers and arts strategists, they knew that the power of arts and culture lies in its specific embrace of place: physical character, histories and communities.

Now, as drivers of creative placemaking policy, planning and projects, at City People we pride ourselves on our capacity to speak the language of artists, communities and governments.

For over a decade, City People has been at the forefront of creative placemaking for some of the most significant precincts in Australia and abroad. Our projects have won awards from Place Leaders Asia Pacific, Parks & Leisure Australia, Interpretation Australia and Australian Institute of Landscape Architects.
