1800’lerin başına uzanan tarihiyle Türkiye’nin en önemli endüstri miraslarından biri olan Beykoz Kundura, 2018’den bu yana İstanbul’un önde gelen kültür ve sanat merkezlerinden biridir. Osmanlı İmparatorluğu’ndan Cumhuriyet dönemine uzanan zengin bir geçmişe sahiptir.
Osmanlı döneminde deri ve kâğıt imalathanelerinin bulunduğu bu alan, Cumhuriyet’le birlikte Sümerbank Deri ve Kundura Fabrikası olarak faaliyetini sürdürdü. 1999’da, Türkiye’nin değişen ekonomik ve politik yapısı doğrultusunda üretime son veren fabrika, günümüzde film, kültür, sahne sanatları ve arşiv alanlarında önemli bir merkeze dönüştü.
