Bay District Schools

Bay District Schools (BDS) is a dynamic public school district located in Panama City, Florida, serving over 27,000 students across 49 schools, including elementary, middle, high, charter, virtual, and special purpose institutions.

With a dedicated team of approximately 3,600 employees, including over 1,500 teachers and more than 2,000 support staff, BDS offers a wide array of career opportunities. Positions range from administrative and instructional roles to vital non-instructional roles such as paraprofessionals, clerical staff, custodians, IT specialists, and food service workers.

Under the leadership of Superintendent Mark McQueen, a retired U.S. Army Major General appointed in 2023, BDS has achieved a consistent "B" grade from the Florida Department of Education and improved its statewide ranking from 35th to 30th among Florida's 67 school districts.

BDS offers competitive compensation, with a starting teacher salary of $50,000, and provides robust support for professional growth and development. The district's commitment to excellence is evident in its diverse programs, including the Bay District Scholars program, which supports employees, such as paraprofessionals, custodians, and clerical staff, in earning their bachelor's degrees and obtaining teacher certification at little to no cost.

Bay District Schools is a great place to work and grow, whether you're just starting your teaching career or bringing years of experience to the classroom.
