Alquion is a cleantech scale-up formed by the merger of Battolyser Systems and VDL Hydrogen Systems that develops & manufactures the Flexolyser®, the first fully flexible pressurized alkaline electrolyser for industrial applications.
Flexolyser can switch on and off following intermittent renewable energy, procuring hydrogen when power prices are low and selling electricity when prices are high, improving project IRR with 40-80%.
The technology can switch on and off multiple times per day without performance compromise, procuring hydrogen when power prices are low and selling electricity when prices are high. This unlocks new power trading business models and flexible grid services, lowering the cost of locally produced green hydrogen below the cost of import.
