alqem

alqem is a German-Portuguese deep-tech start-up revolutionizing the discovery of high-impact materials through advanced AI and intelligent synthesis.

We believe breakthrough materials are the foundation of technological progress, from the energy transition and next-generation computing to the future of mobility. Today, artificial intelligence gives us unprecedented tools to design, predict, and accelerate the discovery of these materials faster than ever before.

Our scientific foundation is built on over a decade of experience in AI for materials science. Our co-founder contributed to the development of Alexandria, one of the largest and most comprehensive foundational databases for crystalline materials. We collaborate the world's leading synthesis and characterization labs.

At alqem, we combine machine learning, physics-informed modeling, and smart synthesis to translate computational discoveries into real-world materials solutions.

Our mission is to build a company that delivers meaningful, positive impact at global scale. We aim to develop materials that enable:

• Rare-earth-free solutions for clean energy

• Advanced materials for high-performance computing

• Next-generation solutions for sustainable mobility

We are building a culture of ownership, curiosity, and rigorous problem-solving — where scientific breakthroughs are celebrated, collaboration is fundamental, and ambitious individuals work together toward shared goals.
