About
UM Shipyard is a third-generation shipyard strategically located in the Gulf of Izmit, in close proximity to Istanbul, offering strong engineering and production capabilities for commercial shipbuilding. With a total production area of 260,000 m², the shipyard is equipped with advanced industrial infrastructure designed to support high-tonnage vessel construction.
The facility includes 20,000 m² of semi-enclosed and 50,000 m² of enclosed production areas, supported by a hull workshop with a fully automated panel and profile production line. Its 60 x 360 meter main slipway, integrated with a 510-ton gantry crane, enables the construction of large-scale vessels, while a secondary 30 x 150 meter slipway allows for smaller tonnage projects to be delivered with the same level of engineering precision and production discipline.
UM Shipyard combines traditional shipbuilding expertise with a contemporary engineering mindset. Its approach goes beyond building vessels; it focuses on developing commercial ships that deliver strong sea performance, optimized operational efficiency, and alignment with evolving sustainability standards.
At UM Shipyard, shipbuilding is defined as a holistic system built on experience, engineering discipline, and continuous improvement. This perspective preserves its engineering heritage while driving forward innovative design and engineering solutions tailored to the future of maritime transportation.
With its Heritage + Future Vision approach, UM Shipyard positions itself as a reliable and forward-thinking shipbuilder, bridging proven industrial capability with next-generation maritime innovation.
