Founded in 1981, Şevki Pekin Architects has played a defining role in the development of modern architecture in Turkey. For over 45 years, Şevki Pekin shaped an architectural philosophy grounded in timelessness, ethics, and spatial clarity—positioning architecture as a cultural and intellectual stance rather than a stylistic pursuit.

Pekin’s outlook was formed through a transnational education spanning Istanbul, Europe, and the United States, and refined at the Vienna Academy of Fine Arts under Prof. Ernst Anton Plischke. Upon returning to Istanbul, he contributed decisively to Turkey's modern architectural language, emphasizing restraint, continuity, and contextual responsibility.

With over 450 projects realized and a strong presence in architectural education, exhibitions, and international platforms, the studio’s work has been recognized with major distinctions, including the Mimar Sinan Grand Prize, the 16th National Architecture Exhibition and Awards, the Professor Baravalle Prize of the Vienna Academy of Fine Arts, and the Josef Frank Award of the Austrian Chamber of Architects. The studio’s archive is preserved at SALT Galata.
