The history of NAOS began in 1977 when Jean-Noël Thorel, a pharmacist-biologist, opened the way to active cosmetics by integrating biology into skincare.

NAOS is an international French company specialized in skin care, present in 130 countries with more than 3,500 employees.

NAOS is the founding company of 3 dermo-cosmetic brands BIODERMA, INSTITUT ESTHEDERM and ETAT PUR, which share a unique scientific approach: Ecobiology, the union of ecosystem and skin biology.

The governance system is unique: NAOS belongs to an Organisation For Altruism. The company is independent and wholly owned by a non-profit endowment fund dedicated to the realization of human potential.
